Message from new chair

"Dear parents, carers, staff and students of Gwyn Jones,

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Korina Gerolazou and my daughter Aurora and I have been a part of the Gwyn Jones family since 2015. I first came across the PTSA during the parents'  induction day and was immediately impressed by the level of parent engagement and the ambitious plan of events presented. I have since volunteered for most of the events and have found the experience to be utterly gratifying. For those of you who have not found the opportunity to volunteer yet, I thoroughly recommend it. It gives you a great sense of community and fulfilment and you get to meet new people and make a  great contribution to the school - what more could you ask for?

Having served as PTSA Vice-Chair last year,  I had the honour of being nominated and elected as Chair in this year's Annual General Meeting. This is quite a daunting responsibility, especially since I have some very big shoes to fill!

For those of you that have been around for the last 5 years, Carrie-Anne Hall needs no introduction. She has singlehandedly transformed the way we run fundraising events at the school with her incredibly imaginative and creative vision, her attention to detail and her determination and focus to give the children the best experience they could possibly have. Under her leadership she has made the Gwyn Jones PTSA one of the most profitable parent teacher associations in the country. She is also, and will always remain, hugely loved at school;  she is one of the most recognisable figures at the school playground as all the students know her and can't wait to hear what she has in store for them for the next event!!  Please join me in thanking her for her unparalleled contribution to our school.

The good news is that Carrie will remain a part of the PTSA committee, having been nominated and appointed as Treasurer this year. She takes over from the amazing Vanessa Mullholland, a hugely valued member of the Gwyn Jones family, who has the unique ability to make funding updates sound inspiring! Thank you Vanessa!

I am also very grateful to be supported, again this year,  by our incredibly efficient Secretary, Lisa Greenwood,  our tireless Comms Officer, Emma Bowman and our effervescent Teacher Vice-Chair, Ms Rorke!

Finally, I am very encouraged by the early signs of engagement from our new parents who joined our AGM meeting in September and have volunteered to fill the remaining key roles in our team. I am thrilled to introduce Sarah Akhurst and Tracy Neueville as our Vice-Chairs, Kirsty Patterson as our Volunteer Coordinator and Hege Marchant as our Raffle Coordinator. A warm welcome to you all.  I am looking forward to working with all of you to make this a great fundraising year.

We have an exciting calendar of events planned for  this year. We have already kicked off in great style with our first quiz night.  Many thanks for the wonderful team effort of Cleo Ovenden-Hedges, Sanchia Lovell and Rik and Lizzie McShane. Our next event will be the autumn disco on 10th November, which has a truly MAGICAL theme.. Intrigued? Watch this space!

Here's to another fantastic PTSA year!

Best wishes,

Korina Gerolazou

Parent Teacher Student Association

The Gwyn Jones PTSA works hard at raising money for a wide array of school projects, social events, and extra learning resources. It also provides a friendly forum for parents to exchange views and receive news, and to connect in a positive way with our local communities.

We are a registered non-profit organisation and abide by the constitution of the charity. The Committee meets regularly to oversee the running of the PTSA and liaises with parents via Parent Mail and the Class Representatives.

If you would like to get involved in any way or are simply looking for up-to-date news, contact links, the calendar of events and more, please get in touch through our new, dedicated website @ www.gwynjonespta.com.
