23rd September

Thank you all for your feedback about the website and new look newsletter. I hope you find it clearer and more helpful. If you haven't had a chance to look round the website, there are lots of really useful functions including the calendar. When you click on the event, it will give you more information about the event, including if you need to bring or prepare anything.

This half term there will be two Friday coffee mornings after drop off in the staff room- the first will be on Friday 7th October and it will be a "meet the head teacher" session where we can talk about the things the school will be concentrating on this year. The second one will be on Friday 14th October and this will be a Governor hosted "Parent Forum" session. This is a opportunity to discuss any issues or questions you have about the school and a school governor will be there too. I hope to see you there.

Next week your child will come home with a slip to confirm your exact 10 minute appointment. On the day, all of your child's books will be available in the school hall for you to look at before or after your appointment.  If you would prefer a telephone appointment, please leave a message at the school office and your class teacher will ring you back.

Gwyn Jones is 40

Gwyn Jones' birthday celebration is on Friday 30th September. All the children will be completing a special art project and they'll be enjoying lots of fun games in the morning.

At lunchtime, all the children and staff will be sharing a special lunch so children don't need to bring in a packed lunch on Friday.

At 2pm, there is a celebration assembly with past members of staff and past pupils who are performing. All parents are invited to this. After assembly, there will be a time to look at old photos. We hope all the children enjoy the special day.

Parent Communication

We know that we need to work hard to improve the way we communicate with you to make sure you get the right information at the right time. Because we know how important this is, communication is one of our school prioirites this year.

You said you need to know what you need to prepare or attend.

We will do our best to make it clear exactly what we are asking you to bring in, prepare or attend. This information is recorded on the school website.  Keep an eye on the calendar on the home page. Clicking on events will give more information.

You said we don't always get the information in enough time or in the best format.

We will send fewer text messages and ParentMails so you know that when you do get one, it is important. Newsletters will be on the website and will direct you to relevant pages on the the website.  We are also improving our internal communication processes to plan our communications more carefully so that you get information in good time.

Also: The website can now be translated into other languages (when viewed on a computer) by clicking on the blue globe in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Rights Respecting Schools

You may have read or heard from your child that they are learning about their rights and respsonbilities from the UN Children's charter. As part of this, all the children have made a class charter to make sure they understand how they can respect each others' rights. This is part of our UNICEF project Rights Respecting Schools. Please click here for more information.

We hope you really like the photos on the school website and around school. They are the work one of the parents in school, Laurence, who we want to say a huge thank you to. I am sure you agree, he has captured how excited and wonderful your children are.

We still have Nursery places avaliable in our afternoon sessions from 12:15-3:15. Any child who is 3, or turning 3, can register. Please speak to the school office for more detials.
